Scareware notifications can be intrusive and alarming, often trying to trick users into thinking their device is compromised. This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to remove these notifications in Google Chrome.
What are Scareware Notifications?

How to Remove Scareware Notifications
1. Open Chrome Settings
- Click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the Chrome window.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
2. Go to Privacy and Security
- In the left sidebar, click on Privacy and security.
- Select Site Settings.
3. Manage Notifications
- Scroll down and click on Notifications.
- Here, you’ll see a list of websites that are allowed to send notifications.
4. Identify and Remove Scareware Websites
- To identify which site is affecting you, look for the URL at the bottom of the pop-up notification.
- Once you find the suspicious website in the list, click the three dots next to it and select Remove to stop notifications from that site.
5. Clear Browsing Data (Optional)
- If the scareware notifications persist, consider clearing your browsing data.
- Go back to Privacy and security, click on Clear browsing data, and select the data you want to clear (such as cached images and files).
By following these steps, you can effectively remove scareware notifications from websites on Chrome and protect yourself from potential scams. Always be cautious of the websites you visit.
