Assignments/Quizzes Not Appearing in Gradebook (Canvas)

If an assignment or quiz is not appearing in the Canvas Gradebook, it is likely placed in an incorrect or ungraded assignment group. To resolve this, edit the assignment or quiz, ensure it's assigned to a proper assignment group that counts toward the final grade, and save the changes. This will ensure the item appears correctly in the Gradebook.

You’ve created an assignment or quiz in Canvas, but it does not appear in the Gradebook.

Cause:
The assignment or quiz is likely assigned to a group that is either not included in the final grade calculation or not set up correctly within your course’s assignment groups.

Solution:
Ensure that the assignment or quiz is placed in the correct assignment group that is included in the gradebook.

Steps to Fix:

1. Go to the Assignment or Quiz:

   • Navigate to your Canvas course.

   • Click on Assignments or Quizzes from the course navigation menu.

2. Edit the Assignment/Quiz:

   • Click on the specific assignment or quiz that is missing from the gradebook.

   • Click Edit.

3. Check the Assignment Group:

   • Locate the Assignment Group dropdown menu.

   • Make sure it is assigned to a group that is included in grade calculations (e.g., “Assignments,” “Quizzes,” etc.).

   • If necessary, change the group to the appropriate one.

4. Save Changes:

   • Scroll down and click Save (or Save & Publish if it’s not published yet).

5. Check the Gradebook:

   • Navigate to Grades from the course navigation menu.

   • Confirm the assignment or quiz now appears in the gradebook.
