ArcGIS Pro Download and Installation
ArcGIS is a comprehensive geospatial platform for professionals and organizations. It is the leading geographic information system (GIS) technology.
Built by Esri, ArcGIS integrates and connects data through the context of geography. It provides world-leading capabilities for creating, managing, analyzing, mapping, and sharing all types of data. Organizations that use ArcGIS to understand and analyze their data in geographic context have a distinct advantage and decision-making edge.
ArcGIS Pro is available to all SEMO faculty, staff and students. This article will provide steps to accessing , downloading and installing the software.
NOTE: This article assumes that you have a familiarity and level of comfort with installing an application on your computer. If you'd prefer or if you run into any issues during the installation, feel free to contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.
System Requirements: ArcGIS has some specific system requirements. Review those requirements here to ensure your system's compatibility:
Step 1: Access the SEMOGIS website
a. Open a web browser on your Windows computer and visit https://semogis.maps.arcgis.com.
b. Click on Southeast Missouri State University button

c. If prompted to login, login with your SEMO email address and password.
Step 2: Downloading ArcGIS Pro
a. Click on Profile in the upper-right and select My settings

b. Under My settings, select Licenses, then scroll down to find ArcGIS Pro.

c. Click on Download ArcGIS Pro

d. Click the Download button to begin the download.


e. The file is over 2.5 GB in size, so depending on your download speed, it may take several minutes to complete.
Step 3: Installing ArcGIS Pro
a. Open the folder where the file was downloaded, then double-click the downloaded EXE file to install


b. Specify the folder where the installation files should be extracted (in this example I created an ArcGIS folder under Downloads)
c. Click Next

d. The installation process will unpack the compressed files. With the "Launch the setup program" box checked, click Close

e. If a message regarding missing software appears, click the download link to install the missing software.

f. This will open a Microsoft download page for .NET 8.0

g. Scroll down to find the .NET Desktop Runtime product, then click to download the x64 installer

h. Locate the downloaded file and double-click or right-click Open to execute

i. Click Install

j. If you are installing on a university computer you may be prompted by Admin by Request to request local administrator rights. This will pause the .NET installation and allow you to resume (retry) once rights have been granted. When the .NET installation is complete, click Close to continue with ArcGIS installation.
k. Return to the folder (step 3b above) where the installation files were extracted or unpacked.
l. Find the ArcGISPro.msi installer file and double-click or right-click Open to restart the ArcGIS Installation

m. The ArcGIS Pro Installation begins - click Next

n. Click Next, then click the "I accept the master agreement" radio button and click Next

o. Click Next to allow anyone who uses the computer to access the program
p. You can select the features you want installed, click Next
q. Click Install (this may take several minutes)
r. Click Finish to complete installation, and run ArcGIS Pro

s. ArcGIS Pro has been succesfully installed.
