Student email account "locked"

Issue

A former student attempts to login to their student email account and receives the following error message:

Your account has been locked. Contact support to unlock it, then try again

Solution

Students maintain email account access for approximately 1 year after graduating or leaving the university, sometimes a little longer. After that time, though their email account is still intact, their access to the account is disabled.

Upon request, IT can reinstate the account temporarily (2 weeks) to allow access to whatever (i.e, files, contacts, emails, etc.) is needed from the account prior to it being deleted in the near future.  Moving forward the former student should move all correspondence to a personal email address.

NOTE: Offices at the university (i.e. International Village, Student Financial Services, Registrar, IT Help Desk, etc.) will communicate with former students via a personal email address as long as the student verifies their identity with the office.

In order to provide this temporary account reinstatement, contact the IT Help Desk for instructions at helpdesk@semo.edu or 573.651.4357.

Once the account has been reinstated, the student will be notified via the personal email address used to contact the IT Help Desk.
