PERSONAL DEVICE REGISTRATIONS (AFTER End of Business Wednesday, July 30)
On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, two critical services were upgraded that are required for connecting personal devices (i.e., phones, tablets, etc.) to the campus network.
- The security certificate for the wireless network.
- Our device registration system.
These are periodically required changes for campus security. We have scheduled both changes together to reduce confusion and disruption.
AFTER July 30, 2025, ON CAMPUS users must reconnect personal devices to our campus wireless network as follows:
- Users will need to "Trust" the new certificate when connecting to the wireless network.
- Users will need to re-register device(s) on the network at http://netreg.semo.edu/ (formally known as "SPLAT" or http://splat.semo.edu/).
Devices should automatically ask the user to “Trust” the campus network.
To register a device, go to http://netreg.semo.edu/ using the device to be registered, and authenticate by logging in using the SE Key and password.
The SE Key is simply the first part of a SEMO email address (i.e., sekey@semo.edu).
If devices are not re-registered at http://netreg.semo.edu/, the device will be connected to the network, but will have no Internet connectivity.
Users do not need to “forget” the campus wireless network and re-add it. If this has been done however, Private or Randomized Wi-Fi Addresses must be turned off.
Personal devices connected to wired network
Users who have personal (or non-university owned devices) connected to the wired Ethernet network, will also need to register the device(s) on the network by opening a web browser and visiting http://netreg.semo.edu.
Users who do not have university credentials (SE Key or SEMO email address) will need to contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.
In preparation for contacting the Help Desk, it is helpful to have the following information available:
- Name
- Affiliation with the University (student, faculty, staff, vendor, other)
- Type of device(s) being connected
- Hardware (MAC) address of device
Your devices MAC address can generally be found in the hardware or network settings on your device.
It may be labeled as "hardware address", "MAC address" or "ethernet address".
It will be shown as a series of alphanumeric characters separated by a ":" or "-" in the format of a1:b2:c3:d4:e5:f6
If you have questions, contact the IT Help Desk at

We apologize for any inconvenience, frustration or confusion these changes may cause.
