Request for Remote Desktop

In the fall of 2024, a change was made to campus computers to remove local administrator access. Local administrator access is generally required to install applications, and access certain services already installed on campus computers. This access potentially can be used by "bad actors" to install viruses and malware. Since Information Technology realizes that there are instances when a user needs this type of access, a service called Admin by Request has been implemented to give users an avenue to request temporary local administrator access. One side effect of this change, however, was that users no longer have the ability to remotely access their office computer by using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) by default.

Southeast faculty or staff members can request this capability by submitting a Service Request by clicking Request Remote Desktop at right.
