Resetting Southeast Key Password

Changing / Resetting Southeast Key Password

Overview

The Southeast Key (SE Key) serves as the primary username for many technology resources on campus. Since Southeast employs Single Sign On (SSO) technology, the password associated with the SE Key is synchronized across different software applications including Microsoft Office 365, Zoom, and Canvas. Sometimes it is necessary for a user to reset their password - an account issue, forgotten password, etc. This article will discuss resetting the SE Key password using a self-help method, and how this is done if the self-help method is not available.

Without the Self-Help Password Reset Facility

If for some reason a user's account doesn't permit them to use the self-help password reset facility, the user will need to contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.

The IT Help Desk, in many cases may be able to assist with a password reset over the phone. The user should be prepared to provide verification of identity, including information such as full legal name, SE Key and/or Southeast ID # (if known), and date of birth. Sometimes it may be necessary to ask additional questions as well.

The user can also simply send an email to helpdesk@semo.edu, requesting a password reset, and attaching a picture of a photo ID such as a driver's license or passport. When this is received, the Help Desk will respond with either a randomized password or with further instructions regarding the account.

If you have questions please contact the IT Help Desk 573.651.4357 or helpdesk@semo.edu.
