SE Key Activation

Overview

Before a Southeast Key (SE Key) can be accessed it must be activated by the account owner. During the activation process a password is created, if the account owner is a newly enrolled student or new employee, the Office 365 (email) account is also created, and the password synchronized. The activation process takes up to 30 minutes after you submit.

Following Activation

Please Note: You will need to wait up to 30 minutes after account activation before accessing your university email or Office 365 account.

After the SE Key is activated, you should complete the process by logging onto Office 365, http://office.semo.edu/. The first time you login to Office 365, it will walk you through setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA).  MFA is another layer of protection for your account.  You setup MFA by selecting a cell phone number or by using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone. More information on MFA can be found at https://semo.edu/it/security/it_security_mfa.html.   If you run into a problem, you can go to https://aka.ms/MFASetup to configure your MFA.

Our self-help password reset facility utilizes your personal email and/or cell phone information.  It is important for this information to be up-to-date in our student information system.  Go to the mySEMO portal to verify and update this information.  Use the search option and search for "email" and "phone" to find the links to update this information.
