Multi-Factor Authentication Initial Setup

MFA

All Southeast personnel will have to set up Multi-Factor Authentication for their Microsoft account. The initial setup will occur the first time a user signs into their account, whether they are on or off campus.

On a Computer

We recommend users set up Multi-Factor Authentication using a computer.  

  1. Navigate to http://mail.semo.edu 
  2. Sign in with your Southeast email and password
  3. A message will appear stating 'More information is required,' select Next
  4. The user will be prompted to download the Microsoft Authenticator app from their app store. Once downloaded, open the app and accept the Terms and Conditions. 
    • Do not sign into the Authenticator App
  5. Return to the web browser and click Next
  6. The web browser will state the Microsoft Authenticator app is going to set up their Southeast account. Select Next
  7. Return to your phone. In the Microsoft Authenticator app, select Scan a QR Code
  8. After scanning the code, return to the web browser and select Next 
  9. The web browser will test the authenticator by having the user enter the displayed code into the authenticator. 

 

On a Mobile Device

  1. Navigate to http://mail.semo.edu 
  2. Sign in with your Southeast email and password
  3. A message will appear stating 'More information is required,' select Next
  4. The user will be prompted to download the Microsoft Authenticator app from their app store. Once downloaded, open the app and accept the Terms and Conditions.
    • Do not sign into the Authenticator App
  5. Return to the web browser and click Next
  6. Select 'Pair your account to the app by clicking this link'
  7. Once paired, return to the web browser and click Next
  8. The web browser will test the authenticator by having the user enter the displayed code into the authenticator.
