Updating Preferred First Name on Portal
Overview
The Preferred First Name is the name that is displayed on services such as Portal, Office 365 and Canvas.
Process
- Open a web browser and navigate to http://my.semo.edu
- Login using Southeast email address and password
- In the search box at the top enter preferred and select the Update Preferred First Name tool
- If no Preferred First Name has been specified click on New Preferred First Name
- Enter the desired name in the box provided and click Submit Changes
- If a first name was already specified and a change is desired, in step 4 click on the name shown, and either check the box next to Remove Preferred First Name or enter a new first name in the box provided and click Submit Changes.
The name submitted should appear in the Portal, Office 365 and Canvas after the information has had a chance to synchronize across systems.
