Updating Preferred First Name

Overview

The Preferred First Name is the name that is displayed on services such as Portal, Office 365 and Canvas.

Process

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://my.semo.edu
  2. Login using Southeast email address and password
  3. In the search box at the top enter preferred and select the View/Update Preferred First Name tool

  1. The Personal Information screen will display.
  1. Click in the upper right corner
     
  2. Locate the Preferred First Name entry, click in the text box and add or modify the name listed.
     
  3. Click  to save changes.

The name submitted should appear in the Portal, Office 365 and Canvas after the information has had a chance to synchronize across systems.
