Updating Preferred First Name on Portal

Overview

The Preferred First Name is the name that is displayed on services such as Portal, Office 365 and Canvas.

Process

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://my.semo.edu
  2. Login using Southeast email address and password
  3. In the search box at the top enter preferred and select the Update Preferred First Name tool

  1. If no Preferred First Name has been specified click on New Preferred First Name

  1. Enter the desired name in the box provided and click Submit Changes 

  1. If a first name was already specified and a change is desired, in step 4 click on the name shown, and either check the box next to Remove Preferred First Name or enter a new first name in the box provided and click Submit Changes.

The name submitted should appear in the Portal, Office 365 and Canvas after the information has had a chance to synchronize across systems.
