This guide sheet covers the different ways due dates for activities in Canvas can be updated besides manually updating them one by one. They can be updated when importing the course content, they can be changed by dragging them in the Canvas Calendar, and they can be changed in the Assignments area
In Canvas New Quizzes, if an instructor edits the “Assign To” field to give a specific student an extra attempt and removes “Everyone,” all other students’ grades disappear from the Gradebook. To restore the grades, the instructor must re-add “Everyone” in the “Assign To” field. Always use a separate “Assign To” entry for individual students without removing the general assignment group to avoid this issue.
If an assignment or quiz is not appearing in the Canvas Gradebook, it is likely placed in an incorrect or ungraded assignment group. To resolve this, edit the assignment or quiz, ensure it's assigned to a proper assignment group that counts toward the final grade, and save the changes. This will ensure the item appears correctly in the Gradebook.
